A big performance during a big week

After Monday night's art exhibit, we moved quickly into our next event---a cub scout cake auction. Battling only a few competitors (it was a small turn-out), the boys happily returned home with the two cakes that they had produced with the help of Grandma. (the adults' pocket-books were a bit slimmer upon the return, but it all went to a good cause)

Then... another night of activity. This time it was Jameson's music concert. After bartering, as we say, through negotiations akin to Middle Eastern peace talks, Jameson put on new-to-him shorts and shirt with a collar. (the "with a collar" part being the biggest challenge in his ensemble) His addition was the big belt; he couldn't leave home without it! I managed to snap one quick picture in the parking lot before we went into his classroom to see a pre-concert exhibit of a project. Jameson was bouncing all over, full of nervous energy and excitement.

It took about 5 minutes of gentle pushing and persuasion for him to step up onto the stage, and then we watched as he sang the songs with his classmates. But unlike his brother, who "locks it in" and behaves as a model student when up on stage, we saw that the nervous energy frequently won out and he was more than a bit goofy and fidgety.

It was a reminder to me that this one is all spirit, heart, and energy, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
