Alex

This picture intrigues me.  I snapped it quickly, right after gelling his hair for his band concert as he stood against the bathroom door.  Nothing fancy, just a quick pic to record the milestone of his first (squeaky) band concert.

Somehow, though, it catches perfectly him at this little cross-roads.  I can see the teenager---the young man---yet to emerge but still peeking at me with those serious eyes from behind those glasses.  Yet I can also see the boy, the fifth-grader, who spends most of his free time engaged in physical play or begging his mother to get on the computer to play games.  I see the boy on the cusp of middle school and greater independence, but who loves the physical challenges on the playground at recess.

Thanks, Alex, for reminding me to celebrate this milestone.
