Last night we had our first fire in spring. We are having a typical Michigan spring, which means a few days of tantalizing warmish weather following by an ice storm. I wanted nothing more than to hover by the warmth of the fire after a long day.
Alex was across the room doing his homework, but not after a few chuckles that an old art project of his was used as kindling (with his consent, of course).
Jameson was close by, sitting next to me while doing his homework. We got word yesterday that he was selected (via lottery) for the all-day kindergarten program. We all breathed a sigh of relief and exchanged high-fives. And then this industrial little fellow got to work. He found an old folder and promptly named it his "Friday Folder". (Alex has had "Friday Folders" for years, where the teachers sent home notes and homework) With markers and pink construction paper, he got to work. He drew pictures and practiced his numbers and letters long after Alex finished his math. The big brother drifted over and helped the little brother shape his fours, fives and sixes. We all helped him with his S's, which have been particularly problematic. We cheered when he did one successfully, and then Jameson declared his homework done for the night.
If this is spring, I think I'll take it.
