Leap

On Friday morning, I handed Alex over to a woman I hardly knew and hopped into a cab in New York City.  I was headed towards my first day--ever!---as a consultant, and they were on their way to a day of site-seeing.


We all had a great time... my clients were happy, the reports from the sitter were fantastic, and Alex had great stories to tell.  He and I stayed on for another day and a half absorbing what we could of the sites, sounds, and tastes of this great city.

But for that moment... as the cab pulled away and I watched them walk down that New York street together, I thought there had been few times in my ten years of parenting that I had taken such a big leap.
