Escape!

This weekend we escaped.


My parents came to watch the kids, who were super excited to have "BANAPATA" come stay with them. (Alex: How come they are only going to stay TWO days? I want them to stay for a WHOLE WEEK)

We escaped and headed over to the West Coast.

The West Coast of Michigan, that is. It's a pretty quick drive, especially when there aren't little creatures in the back seat demanding videos and snacks. Stefan did the trip planning---he's good at that---and we stayed in a nice carriage house in South Haven right on Lake Michigan.

We ate (too much) good food, we tried local wine (the blueberry wine was surprisingly good!), we took long walks, and we tried to stay dry despite all the rain.

Mainly, though, we just enjoyed being away from our parental responsibilities and marvelled at the fact that TEN YEARS could pass so quickly.
