Alex's Easter Egg Hunt

In the midst of the boy-fun on Easter day, including finding Easter baskets, devouring jelly beans, tearing off your church clothes the minute one walks in the door, and making new Lego creations, Alex announced that he was going to hide the Easter eggs outside for the hunt.

Okay, sounds like a good idea!

He came back in, quite excited a few minutes later. We could see a few eggs out on the porch, very obviously for Jameson, and we assumed there were a few more spread around the yard for Benjamin (age 4).

But... our smart six-year old had also hidden some for himself, and "then I forgot them Mama, so now I can go find them!"

Huh. Okay, well, let's run with it. Jameson loves finding eggs, and in fact we had to keep on "redistributing" his eggs for him to find again and again.

Benjamin seemed to enjoy it too, until he discovered that nearly all of his eggs were empty!

Hmm... who got the candy-filled eggs? Who smartly hid the ones with candy for himself?? Ooohhh... my clever candy-obsessed Alex. You do impress me with your ideas, even though I'm concerned with your motivations!

Lesson learned... next year, don't trust Alex to hide the eggs. Next year, the Easter bunnies must fill ALL the eggs. Next year, the grown-ups hide the eggs!

And next year, we do a repeat of the sticky-bottom-cinnamon rolls, which work just as well as Easter as they do at Christmas!
