We are now in Silver Spring, Maryland, staying with my Aunt Sue and Uncle Bill. They have a beautiful house surrounded by trees and so we are enjoying the company and the scenery (and the coffee and the pie!).
My "Back in civilization" title refers to the trip Alex and I took to Whole Foods yesterday. It had been over THREE WEEKS. Alex managed to talk me into chocolate milk (big surprise) and a few other snacky-type treats for him and his brother.
We also felt the impact of civilization in other ways. The first was all the traffic jams and construction we encountered on the beltway. (wait... why did we move away from this place???) And the other was in the diversity of people I saw---just while on a quick trip to the store. India, Middle East, Africa, to name a few.
Jameson is having a morning nap (the little stinker woke me up at 5:40) and then we're going to go to the zoo and the fish market (we're having fresh fish with drawl).
Jameson and his desire for constant mobility are making this stop challenging! There are no less than THREE staircases in the main area of this house, and Jameson is determined to go up and down them constantly whenever he is awake. He's also not very happy unless he's with Mama or Daddy. In particular, Uncle Bill is now at the "Red" threat level in Jameson's life (meaning: look at him very cautiously and avoid contact at all costs) for having the audacity to touch Jameson's head and make a funny sound (Oh, the horror!). Aunt Sue is probably at the "Yellow" threat level (okay to be around, especially if doing something fun like playing in water). (Alex, on the other hand, LOVES Aunt Sue because she's play Star Wars with him and read him stories). Janice is even better on Jameson's threat meter (nearly "Green"?? I'm making this up as I go along) as he was willing to be held by her for about 8 minutes after dinner.
Oh, one last note. We discovered that Jameson likes Aunt Sue's gazpacho. Who knew?
