Equipped for summer...

Guess what little boy is just like HIS BIG BROTHER, in one more very important way?

That's right... our little guy got his first scooter. We picked him up a three-wheeled spiderman scooter as a new summer outdoor toy to play with. He's slowly getting used to the "scooting" action that it takes to propel himself on it, and is just thrilled with himself when he gets going.

As you can see, we made him suit up in a helmet, the same one his brother wore with his first scooter.

In fact, that helmet got me thinking... I dug back into our archives of pictures and found pictures of Alex wearing that helmet nearly three years ago when, at age 4 and a half, he got his first scooter.

As you can see, we were a little more safety-conscious then, and made him suit up in knee pads and elbow pads. Of course he started with a two-wheeled scooter, obviously many more times dangerous than a three-wheeled scooter. Which is clearly the justification I will use if Alex ever asks why we tortured him more than his brother.

But Alex wasn't feeling very tortured yesterday, since we also bought him a new scooter. After three years of hard use, his old scooter was rusty and falling apart.

With boys armed with scooters and warmer weather coming our way, we're looking forward into a really fun summer.
