Holiday Happiness

Alex got two very large Lego sets this season. With both of these gifts, he's had to wait a short while between receiving them and then building them--due to having visitors or being visitors. And having a huge Lego set, and not being able to make it? That, my friends, is the definition of criminal torture for this eight year old boy.

So when the flood gates were opened... the legos poured into little bowls, and the instruction booklets propped open, there was hardly a thing to divert him from building those sets. Food? Not really a necessity. Seeing a movie with a friend? Perhaps, but let's make it a quick one. Sleep? Like food, only when Mama insists.

I'm really not sure I ever see him happier or more intensely focused. It's too bad that every day isn't Lego-set-building-day. But I'm glad he does have these days to happily plug away at something that gives him so much joy. Merry Christmas, Alex.
